John 4:23-24 (NKJV)  23 But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him24 God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”

The Lord is seeking a people that will worship Him.  Sanctuary of Praise Worship Ministry exists to create an atmosphere of worship so that people may have a personal encounter with God.  We are the tip of the spear!  We have accepted the responsibility of leading in worship, so that others may follow.

Some people wonder just what an appropriate expression of worship to God is.  We have listed below 7 Hebraic words used in scripture to instruct God's people to worship Him.

  1. Halal is a primary Hebrew root word for praise. Our word "hallelujah" comes from this base word. It means "to be clear, to shine, to boast, to show, to rave, to be clamorously foolish."  It is an overboard expression of celebration!  It can be expressed as shaking, shouting, jumping, running, etc…  It is an unexplainable praise!
  2. Yadah is a verb meaning to, "extended the hand, to throw out the hand, therefore to worship with extended hand."
  3. Towdah comes from the same principle root word as yadah, but is used more specific. Towdah literally means, "an extension of the hand coupled with adoration.  It combines the lifting of hands and a vocal expression of adoration.
  4. Shabach means, "a victory shout, it is a loud tone, it means to command, it is expressed whenever we triumph or overcome."
  5. Barak means "to kneel down, to bow and to bless God as an act of adoration."
  6. Zamar means "to pluck the strings of an instruments, to sing, to praise; it is a musical word which is largely involved with joyful expressions of musical instruments.
  7. Tehillah means "the singing of halals or hymns.  It literally means to sing or to express your personal story and to involve music as you sing in the Spirit.
